Got a new air fryer and had to try it out. Figured before I tried something more substantial, I couldn't possibly ruin a hot dog. I was right. The hotdogs tasted just like we had grilled them outside and the toasted buns were wonderful. Great first outing with the air fryer. Now I have some confidence that I can make something more expensive and not ruin it. Thanks for all the reviews that gave me the angst to try it myself. Kathy Acord

I've tried hot dogs every which way you can in an effort to get them to taste like vendor dogs. Steaming, baking, boiling, frying, half-boiling and half-frying, shaken, stirred, and ala mode. Nothing has come close until now. Completely juicy and cooked through. I put some cheese on the bun before I fried it and it came out perfectly melted, I would add a minute or two next time to make the dogs and bread a bit crispier as a good dog should be, but this is my new go-to for sure. I basically inhaled them.
I love them in the air fryer too, but I cook the dogs first for 6 min. Then I put them in the buns and cook everything for another 3-4 minutes.
A fantastic way to make hot dogs! Mine were frozen so I cooked them for 4 minutes and they looked and tasted like they had been cooked on the grill.
Would not make any changes. This was the first recipe I tried. It tasted like grilled hot dogs. A keeper, will make again.
Will never make hot dogs any other way now they tasted like I cooked them on a grill and the buns perfect
I do not have a picture….but picture the hot dogs you have gotten at the carnival, stores in the 70s, or any place that makes them on the rollers. Your hot dogs taste just like that! The only way I make them is the air fryer now! If someone likes their crunch scorched just leave them in longer! Yummy
Worked well, Will make it again. Easy, no clean up- buns nicely toasted
It makes your buns nice and crispy and who doesnt want their hot dog in five minutes?
Used Ballpark Angus hotdogs, and added Chilli and onions on top. Yummy and super fast!
Were great the first time. My husband likes his hotdogs very crispy. At 4 minutes they were perfect.
This was the first thing we cooked in the new air fryer. Hotdogs and buns were perfect and clean up is incredibly easy.
Buns were perfect. Hot dogs were delicious. Faster than boiling too!
I also added bacon to this meal. Just wrap each frank with a strip.(Best cooked for @ 3-mins) Got this grand idea from the Maxx air oven commercial!
I like it but… need one less minute for buns, and used Ballpark all beef Dogs . That would constitute a five star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I tried this in my new sur la table air fryer from Costco. I cooked them twice as long as recommended and they still were cold and we ended up having to microwave them
I just made my second meal with my small air fryer. I had 2 long all-beef wieners that were frozen. I put them in the microwave on defrost for 2 minutes, which thawed them just enough for easier cutting. I cut them in half and placed them in the air fryer at 400 degrees. I set the timer for 5 minutes. Then because I really like them really browned, I turned them and cooked them for another 3 minutes. They were perfect for me and my husband.
these came out great like they had been grilled. I needed to cook mine about 8 minutes
I added about 4 more min to mine Since they were frozen. Was juicy would do again quick and easy!
Awesome !!! I put the buns in the basket and took the basket out after 2 minutes and placed the dogs in the bottom of the fryer for more “fry”. Added a minute for more crispness. 100% delicious. My oldest remarked that he loved the toasted bun.
It was a good way to cook them perfectly but my family wanted and love a crisper hotdog. A++ for the cook. B- for the crispness.
Used brioche buns and toasted them beforehand
Very good, will always cook my hotdogs 🌭 😋 Luke this now.
Grateful for this recipe. I was making 5 hotdogs but had to increase the time another 2 minutes. Came out great! Like it better than boiled
I made this recipe twice. The first time I followed the directions listed. The second time I cooked the hotdogs first at 400 degrees for 6 minutes, checking them at the 3 minute time frame and continued to cook for the full 6 minutes. During the last 3 minutes, I prepared each bun by opening it up. Once the hot dogs were finished I put one in each bun then cooked 4 at a time for 2 minutes. They were delicious using the original recipe but we liked the way I cooked them the second time better. Very quick and easy dinner. Used Ballpark Bun size wieners.
I just used mustard and grated parm cheese. For the type of air fryer I have may have to cook for a little bit longer
dog were a little more done then expected but all in all was good
Thank you! I got an air fryer from my son for Christmas. I have been air frying bacon for breakfast, but wanted to branch out. We are having the family over for a bbq tonight and hubby was hungry. I looked up how to make a hot dog in the air fryer and there it was! It worked like a charm and I am branching out with new recipes! Thank you it worked like a charm. We made 2 hot dogs and 2 hot dog buns. Hubby liked that the bun was crispy on the ouside and soft on the inside.
It worked but I do hot dog for 5 minutes then rol with hot dog in it for 3 more minuets. Very crunchy. OK for a change
Everything came out amazing, I was super skeptical but it’s was fast, easy, and delicious!
I made this on 10/3/21 it was good but it was a job to clean the entire air fryer after as the grease from the hotdog spilled down into the drip pan. The cleanup was harder than the cooking part. I cooked 4 hotdog buns and they were a little crisp—I'll try 1.5 minutes next time. I cooked 4 hotdogs 6 minutes and they were fine.
The dogs did not turn out as moist as I wanted, but the buns were toasty and delicious. I would make this again by doing the buns as directed and then doing the dogs for 1 minute and then 45 seconds in the microwave.
I’m still new to the air fryer... so basic is a good way to start! And, I was using the basic Oscar Meyer weenies. I opted to cook those solo. And, it definitely took a little longer than 3 minutes. I had them in there for approximately 5-6 minutes, solo (for 2). From there, when they began to bubble & “pop”, I removed them & placed the buns in for approximately 3 minutes. That crisped the buns perfectly. I then placed the hot dogs on the buns, added some shredded cheese, placed back in for about 2 minutes to melt. They turned out well! I just think the cook time for the dogs is a little too short, but that may also vary depending on the appliance being used. This was certainly MUCH better than boiling or microwaving! Can’t beat a grill, but it definitely works for the better results.
8.20.20 A horrendous thunder, lightening, rain storm blew through yesterday evening dumping 7” of rain, so cooking out was not an option. Potato salad and baked baked beans were done, and instead of frying hamburgers and making yet another mess to clean up, decided to try this recipe for hot dogs using the air fryer. It works folks, enough said! Seriously, I don’t know that you get that much more flavor grilling hot dogs, and it’s doubtful I’ll even bother again. Being able to toast the buns in the air fryer also is a plus, it makes a difference. Admittedly, this one surprised me, it’s simply good!
Love the crispness of the buns and the dogs were perfectly made. Quick and easy and little to no dishes to make.
Pretty good, Buns were nice and toasty and hot dogs were juicy!
This is absolutely the best way to have a hotdog! I will never make a hotdog any other way ever again.?
Excellent. I used Zwigles Pop Open hots, made in Rochester, NY. I was looking for an alternative to grilling, because the snow is up to my knees right now.
I even started my hot dogs frozen, I just doubled the time, turning after the 3 minutes. This time I didn't do the buns because I was using special buns that I didn't want toasted.
One word - YUM! The casing was nice & crisp. The meat was tender & juicy.
No, did it precisely as recommended and it now becomes my favorite hot dog recipe. I did butter the buns, though! Thanks
Simple and quick! I highly recommend using all beef hot dogs, and quality buns. I've tried just regular every day ballpark hot dogs, and store brand buns. The buns were a bit too dry. The hotdogs were good but the all beef? OMG they were to die for! Will make these again and again!
Quick ,easy and tasty as I wrapped bacon around the hot dogs yum.
